Deputy Hotel Manager - Shaun Sanders

Meet the team Monday with…

Shaun Sanders, Deputy Hotel Manager

How long have you worked at Saunton?

It will be 21 years in June

Describe your job in three words

Challenging, exciting and rewarding

What’s your favourite thing about working here?

I love that every day is different and we’re one big family. The views are also spectacular!

What’s your proudest moment from your time here?

After 21 years I have many, but I would have to say getting married here in 2007 and being interviewed for the position of junior manager. After 2 years of working here I had an interview with Mr Peter Brend senior to be promoted. It was so nerve-racking being interviewed by the director, but it all turned out well and he gave me the job that set me on my way.

What are your favourite things about north Devon?

The golf courses, cycling routes and amazing walks.

What one thing would you recommend every guest tries while they are here?

There are too many for just one recommendation, but I’d say visit the Chichester Arms in Bishops Tawton for lunch, try a deep-sea fishing trip from Ilfracombe, and cycle the Tarka Trail for a flat ride or along the picturesque north Devon coastline for steep hill climbs and amazing descents.

What makes you smile?

I enjoy cycling, fishing and golf; good old steak and chips, onion rings mushrooms and peppercorn sauce; and my favourite song right now is Shotgun by George Ezra.
