1. Surfing

The North Devon coastline offers many fantastic surfing beaches for surfers of all abilities, with Saunton, Croyde, Woolacombe and Westward Ho! attracting visitors from all over the country. Here at Saunton you can sign up for free surf lessons with the brilliant Walking on Waves (www.walkingonwaves.co.uk) First Wave sessions are designed to get you off the beach, in the water, and having fun as quickly as possible.

2. Jonathan Marshall’s amazing horse and bird of prey shows

The incredible Jonathan Marshall, horseman and display falconer extraordinaire, regularly stuns audiences with jaw dropping displays right here at Saunton.  His unmissable outdoor shows take place on the lawn in front of the hotel and are part of our fun packed summer entertainment programme.

3. Tarka Trail

Linking various towns and running through the countryside and riverside, the Tarka Trail is the route of the old railway line. Choose a section and set off on foot or bike, you’ll pass marshland, woodland, coastal scenery, skirt round villages and towns and soak up the beautiful open countryside, all on a tarmacked, easy route for the whole family.

Relax and enjoy the balmy waters of our outdoor heated pool, which also offers some of the best poolside views in the country! 5. Explore Exmoor

With spectacular scenery, diverse flora and fauna and picturesque, historic villages, Exmoor National Park is the jewel in the crown of North Devon. Follow one of the many trails for an unforgettable walk, explore the moor on horseback, enjoy a meal at a quirky Exmoor pub and marvel at the stunning coastal views. We even organise a special walking holiday in the autumn where we take guests to watch the red deer rut. There’s so much to discover on Exmoor.

7. RHS Rosemoor Gardens

Set within a pretty wooded valley, Rosemoor offers 65-acres of beautifully planted flower beds with plants from around the world. The gardens have a full events calendar, which is worth checking out -  There's also lots of shopping to be done and children's activities keep little green-fingers amused. With Saunton Golf Club (rated number 61 in the World’s Best 100 Courses) right next door and the Royal North Devon course (the oldest links course in the country) at Westward Ho! and Willingcott Golf Club and Ilfracombe Golf Club nearby, golfing at Saunton is a must even for the novice golfer. We even have our own putting green which the whole family will enjoy!
