Playroom Duties and Responsibilities
Compassionate and patient, our play leaders are here to provide exciting activities for our guests' young children. They organise fun and educational activities and monitor the children’s safety and look after their needs whilst in their care. They may also keep records of children under their care relating to dietary requirements and any special needs the children may have.
On a typical work day, a playroom assistant / leader can expect to complete the following tasks:
Supervise and Monitor Children
Play leaders take a hands-on role in providing a safe child care environment. Whether the children are playing or napping, our staff keep a close watch to prevent accidents or injuries. They are responsible for recording all incidents and accidents of all children while in their care.
Organise Daily Activities
Beyond safety, play leaders also maintain a fun and educational environment for children under their care. They work closely with the entertainments team, hotel and playroom managers and each other to develop engaging activities. If the play leaders also care for children with disabilities, they adapt play programs as needed to help everyone feel included.
Keep and Update Records
To meet a child’s needs no matter who is on duty, play leaders keep detailed logs of each child in their facility. Information in these logs may include a child’s attendance, temperament, food allergies, and any special accommodations the child requires, as well as who will drop off and collect the children.
Maintain a Sanitary and Safe Environment
After activities or mealtimes and on going as required, playroom staff are responsible for cleaning up messes and organising materials for the next program. They will clean and sanitize toys, kitchen tools, and other items before the children arrive or after they leave. Staff are also responsible for being mindful of safeguarding issues at all times.
Skills and Qualifications
Ideally hold a Level 3 qualification in Childcare.
Previous experience in a similar environment
Understanding of all policies and procedures relating to children in their care
Current DBS check
First Aid / Paediatric qualification preferred
