R&A Boys Amateur Championships

Saunton Golf Club will be hosting one of the most prestigious golf events in the world: the R&A Boys Amateur Championships. Played annually in Great Britain and Ireland, the international championships will take place on Saunton Golf Club from August 13-18, in which 252 competitors from 33 countries will contest the title.

Attracting male golfers from Great Britain and players from across the globe including Australia, Puerto Rico, South Africa and the USA – the champion will earn exemptions into the 2020 Amateur Championship and Final Qualifying for The Open. There will be two qualifying rounds of stroke play before the leading 64 players and ties progress to match play. Each match will consist of one round of 18 holes (excluding Sunday’s final which will be played over 36 holes).

Those vying for the championship include Joe Pagdin, the highest ranked player in the field; Archie Davies, who recently won the Welsh Amateur Championship at Tenby and Jose Luis Ballester Barrio who finished runner-up at The R&A Boys Amateur Championship in 2018.

Admission and parking are free of charge for spectators visiting Saunton Golf Club, so make sure you visit to watch the enthralling golf championship.
