There’s more to Devon than delicious afternoon teas and picturesque beaches... From surfing to horseback riding, the possibilities are endless when it comes to Saunton’s glorious coastline. Here are just a few of the highlights…
North Devon Activities
Surfing
With more than 3.5 miles of stunning golden sands, Saunton Sands beach is part of the 19 miles of coastline to be selected as the 12th World Surfing Reserve joining a list that includes Malibu and the Gold Coast - making it the perfect place to have a go at surfing. With long rolling waves for beginners or long-rippable walls for the more advanced surfers, our friends at Walking on Waves offer expert tuition and guidance in the water. They offer beginner, group, private, family and intermediate lessons suitable for all ages and abilities - plus we offer FREE surf lessons to guests when they stay with us (subject to dates & availability). The team at Walking on Waves have 20+ years of experience and offers a range of packages if you’re looking to give surfing a go when you visit us.
Watersports
OSKC Watersports offers a large variety of adrenaline-fuelled water sports. From kayaking to coasteering, make a day of it and explore everything the North Devon coast has to offer. Imagine paddling through sparkling blue coves or plunging into crystal clear waters from towering clifftops. With everything Devon has to offer, sea-wise, water sports are obligatory for a summer family holiday.
Walk the coast path
The North Devon area is a coastal wonderland, perfect for stretching your legs on a scenic walk. Where else can you walk along 630 miles of such a beautiful shoreline that constitutes the UK’s longest National Trail? The heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery along the way are truly inspirational and walking it brings stunning new experiences. The South West Coast Path Association has produced a range of walks starting from our hotel.
Horseback Riding
Has it always been your dream to canter along an empty beach or stroll through the surf? Woolacombe Riding Stables offer a variety of rides across open fields, valleys and hills, sand dunes and Woolacombe beach. There is a horse available for all abilities and these guys are the only ones permitted by Parkin Estates to offer horse riding on Woolacombe Beach, so the choice is clear!
Source Spa
If water sports and coastal walks aren’t for you, take some downtime at our coastal spa. Inspired by the natural playground surrounding the hotel, our oceanfront Source Spa harnesses the power of nature to soothe, restore, invigorate and nourish body and mind. Spend the day sauntering from swims in our indoor and outdoor pools to the gym and decompression sessions in our Thermal Suite. You can enhance your day and surrender your body and mind with a nourishing spa treatment. Let our therapists pamper you before lounging on the rooftop sanctuary under a warm blanket.
