18th February 2019
D Day at Saunton Sands
This year’s Saunton D Day event has been confirmed for 15th and 16th June 2019 on Saunton beach.
Featuring a military vehicle rally, living history Allied camps, battle displays and much more, this free event is the only living history event of his kind in the UK.
We’ll post more details as they become available so stay tuned. If you are interested in getting involved with the event, contact SBE firstname.lastname@example.org
In addition to this annual event, residents and visitors to North Devon can discover more about the area’s hidden wartime past thanks to a new Arts Council lottery grant secured by The Museum of Barnstaple.
The project, known as Devon D-Day, will mark 15 important World War 2 sites along the coastline from Hartland to Mortehoe with bronze plaques and will be accompanied by an illustrated visitor guide.
With unbeatable views of the beach as well as direct access, Saunton is the perfect place to stay if you’re visiting for the weekend to attend the D Day event. What’s more, Saturday morning surf lessons for adults and children over 10 years with our brilliant surfing team from Walking on Waves are included with your stay.
